Hot and cold rooms

Some difference between rooms is normal. A room that never gets comfortable usually has an airflow problem. Answer these so we know where to start.

1Which rooms are uncomfortable?
2Are the vents in those rooms open and not blocked by furniture or rugs?

Tip: Open them fully and move anything covering them, including the larger return grilles.

3How strong does the air feel at the vents in those rooms when the fan is on?

Tip: Set the thermostat fan to On and compare those rooms with a room that feels comfortable. Set the fan back to Auto when you're done.

4Is the air filter dirty?

Tip: If it's gray and you can't see light through it, replace it. A clogged filter causes more problems than anything else. See Air filters: how often and why.

5What size is your air filter?

Tip: The size is printed on the edge of the filter. With it, our technician can bring the right filter.
