Homeowner First Response

Thermostat blank or not responding

A blank or unresponsive thermostat is often a low battery or a full drain pan. Check these first.

Don't want to answer questions? That's fine. Skip them and go straight to scheduling.

1Do you see a low-battery symbol on the thermostat?

Tip: If you see a low-battery symbol, change the batteries.

2Is there water in the drain pan or around the float switch?

Tip: The drain pan sits under the indoor unit. When it fills, the float switch shuts the system off on purpose to prevent a leak. If it's full, turn the system off and tell us.

3What kind of thermostat do you have?
4What size is your air filter?

Tip: The size is printed on the edge of the filter. With it, our technician can bring the right filter.
