Carbon monoxide alarm going off

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a gas you can't see or smell. A sounding CO alarm is an emergency.

Get everyone, including pets, outside to fresh air right now. From outside, call 911. Don't go back in until emergency responders say it's safe.

Do this now

  1. 1

    Get outside

Leave right away. Don't stop to open windows or look for the source.

  2. 2

    Call 911 from outside

Tell them your CO alarm is going off and whether anyone has a headache, dizziness, nausea or shortness of breath.

  3. 3

Call us before using the heat again

After responders clear the house, have your furnace and venting checked before you run it.
